Bamboo: the most luxurious sportswear fabric on earth
Bamboo: the most luxurious sportswear fabric on earth
Bamboo is a highly versatile natural resource and for centuries has been used for a variety of applications from cooking and construction to transport, textiles and even medicinal purposes. Only recently has bamboo become more commonly used in apparel and sportswear as we slowly discover its wide range of benefits and eco-friendly solutions to many of our modern-day requirements.
Along with having remarkable natural properties, Bamboo is considered the world’s most sustainable resource - it can grow 20 to 30cm in a day. Bamboo also absorbs five times the amount of carbon dioxide and produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.
Valour’s NanoFuse fabric technology is a knitted bamboo charcoal fibre that epitomises fashion and performance. Our sportswear made from NanoFuse is highly absorbent, antibacterial and non-irritating. Silky to the touch, NanoFuse has been milled to Valour's exacting standards. Against the skin, NanoFuse is softer than silk.
Inspired by your imagination, NanoFuse is ideal for sublimation printing which means your team has 100% creative freedom to create unique teamwear with unlimited design and colour options.
6 reasons Bamboo is becoming a popular sportswear fabric
-
Hypoallergenic and anti-irritant - The eco-friendly bamboo fibres do not irritate the skin. Gentler than many manmade fibres, bamboo clothing is a natural solution for those with skin sensitivities.
-
Breathable and thermo-regulating - Stay comfortable whatever the weather with natural body temperature regulation which keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter.
-
Highly sweat absorbent and odour-resistant - Bamboo clothing is more absorbent than cotton but dries faster which helps to wick moisture away from the skin to keep you dry.
-
Supremely soft, light and flexible - Envelop yourself in one of the softest fabrics and move freely and comfortably.
-
Naturally UV protective - Protect your skin from the sun’s rays in comfort.
-
Biodegradable - A greener and eco-friendly material that will simply return to the Earth.
Caring for Bamboo sportswear
While Bamboo offers many advantages to help achieve optimum sports performance, greater care is required to ensure its longevity:- Bamboo is a finer material – Velcro must not be rubbed against your sportswear. Carefully attach your Velcro bib without touching the bamboo material. Velcro can damage even the toughest of fabrics.
- Bamboo fabrics will maintain their special qualities when washed inside a laundry bag with a gentle cycle using cold to warm water. A gentle detergent is also recommended, free of bleach.
- Air dry Bamboo sportswear flat in the shade or use a tumble dryer on the cool setting.
- If ironing is required the lowest heat setting is best to avoid any damage and use light steam.
