Valour Launches Thread Swap with Adelaide Thunderbirds
Sustainability-Focused Initiative Gives Fan Merchandise a Second Life
As part of its commitment to reducing environmental impact and leading sustainable innovation in Australian sportswear, Valour, in collaboration with Netball South Australia and the Adelaide Thunderbirds, is proud to launch the Valour Thread Swap, a sustainability-focused initiative that gives pre-loved fan merchandise a second life. During Rounds 13 and 14, fans attending the Adelaide Thunderbirds' final two home games of the minor rounds at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre are encouraged to bring along outdated or unwanted team merchandise from any era. Valour will recycle these items into renewable based merchandise items to be sold back to fans within the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season. As a further thank you to fans, Valour Sport will provide recycling participants with a merchandise voucher to use immediately towards updating their current Adelaide Thunderbirds wardrobe.
Valour is the exclusive apparel and merchandise partner of Netball South Australia. Through Valour’s “Closing the loop” program, this initiative aims to reduce landfill waste and promote eco-friendly practices among netball fans.
“This is a wonderful initiative targeted toward positive sustainable apparel outcomes. This is about rewarding netball fans with a practical and purposeful way to support both their team and the planet,” says Matthew Knight, Managing Director of Valour. “We love being part of the South Australian netball community, we are very grateful for their support and thought this was a wonderful initiative to bring to the table. We will look to rolling out this great initiative across more of our national partnerships in 2026.”
The Adelaide Thunderbirds have one of the most passionate fanbases in the league, with strong ties to community and a shared commitment to progress.
Lauren Sherman, General Manager Commercial at Netball South Australia, emphasizes the value of the initiative: “Offering our Pink Army the chance to recycle their Adelaide Thunderbirds merchandise is important to us. It is not only about aligning sport and sustainability, but also deepening our fan engagement through a purposeful, values-driven initiative.”
