Advocating sporting success through innovative partnership
Newcastle Grammar School (NGS) is a leading school in the Hunter Region with the purpose of delivering an educational experience that leaves their graduates enriched in all aspects of life. Sam Poolman is a retired professional netballer and passionate community advocate driving change for aspiring sports stars. Valour prides themselves on their cutting-edge high-performance sportswear to help athletes push harder and go further. The alliance between the three will result in improved performance, increased opportunities and greater development for the students involved in the Supporting Athlete Performance program (SAP).
The program is leading the way for talented athletes at Newcastle Grammar to develop and evolve. The holistic nature of the program, led by Sam, will give them the tools to perform at their best while developing them into leaders and encouraging them to give back to the community.
For Sam, the Supporting Athlete Performance program gives her the opportunity to “align my passion of mentoring and helping young athletes reach their dreams. We focus on developing more than the athlete, targeting areas that focus on their wellbeing, assisting with monitoring their performance and upskilling for the future.
Our benchmark requirements for the NGS sporting framework has been aligned with the Australian Institute of Sport FTEM framework to ensure this program creates athletes who are world’s best.”
The innovative partnership will see NGS students kitted out in high performance apparel designed to enhance results. Valour, sportswear supplier to Newcastle Grammar for close to ten years is thrilled to contribute to the project. Having been privileged to have Sam Poolman as brand ambassador during her time at the Giants Netball, Valour have seen her devotion in providing opportunities for aspiring sports stars to excel and are excited to be a part of the SAP program driven by her.
Sam believes the “partnership is so much more than providing high performance apparel. It is an opportunity to have the students gain early access to elite level fabrics developed in conjunction with leading sporting providers like the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS). Students are also encouraged to collaborate with Valour and provide feedback to create performance enhancing sportswear specific to their individual needs.”
Ryan Tesoriero, founder of Valour says this partnership is the first of many, as Valour continues its push to provide more than apparel to its schools. “Valour invest in Research & Development and value feedback from athletes, schools and parents to enable us to continually raise the bar in high performance apparel. Combining this with our various sport industry and school partners and athlete ambassadors ultimately ensures we can drive positive change in the community.”
Valour looks forward to watching the students excel and working together with Sam and NGS on this exciting venture.
