Working with SA Wheelchair Basketball Association

Well established within the sporting industry, Valour thrives on continually refining our fabrics and designs; to provide innovative, cutting edge apparel suitable for all sports and all players.

Valour’s range of sporting fields was recently extended as we were given the opportunity to sponsor the team uniform for South Australia’s Wheelchair Basketball Association (SAWBA).

Valour met Mark Sicolo when launching the One Team initiative, spearheaded by Netball NSW to launch a range of apparel with a more inclusive message. Offering mix and match uniforms for people of all ages, gender identity and cultural backgrounds.

At the time, Mark was acting as a mentor to the SAWBA Development Squad and appealed to Valour for help with a team uniform. With a passion to support local communities and inspired by Mark’s dedication to the SAWBA development team, Vanna Floros, Valour’s State Manager for South Australia jumped into action.

Vanna in conjunction with Mark and the Design team at Valour fashioned a new uniform design for SAWBA including singlets, shorts, polos and a jacket. Valour took into account the sport and the players to modify the designs slightly to ensure their team logo stood out and the garments were ideal for their sporting purpose. Vanna was extremely pleased with the final result, saying: “Seeing the enjoyment on people’s faces when they wear their new Valour Sport uniform always makes me smile and the opportunity to help this team become athletes is extra heart-warming.”

SAWBA were delighted with the new uniforms. Annabelle from the SAWBA development team says “We’ve been working hard to look more and more like a team with each training session, and now have the kit to match. It’s amazing!! We’ve been wearing it the past couple weeks and have absolutely been loving it! The quality is awesome and everyone is so incredibly happy with all the products. Everyone has especially been loving the spray jackets for the early morning trainings.”

The SAWBA team were the first home grown South Australian team to enter the Kevin Coombs Cup in 2022 and continue to grow stronger as a team. Valour is proud to have been involved in their journey and we look forward to watching their progress as we continue our association.

Valour continually implements initiatives to propagate positive community development. The ability to partner with community organisations by offering value added services in addition to high quality apparel is paramount to the Valour vision and drive going forward.
